Monday / May 7th
- Ane Brun, Gemma Ray @ Bowery Ballroom  - Rare chance to see Norwegian songstress Ane Brun's in support of her new album It All Starts With One, released last week and featuring great Swedish collaborateurs with First Aid Kit and Jose Gonzalez. For fans of Frazey Ford (Be Good Tanyas).
- Pink Skull, Boveda, Turner Cody, James Friedman (DJ Set), Tim Love Lee (DJ Set) @ Cameo Gallery  - Proceeds from this show benefit the Wassaic Music Festival, a FREE, annual, multi-disciplinary celebration of art, music, and community in the hamlet of Wassaic, NY.  August 3rd-5th, 2012. It looks pretty amazing. Worth supporting.

- Sam Jayne (Love As Laughter) @ Manhattan Inn (FREE Show) - My favorite new venue and i like Sam's solo work.
- Eytan & The Embassy, Pyyramids @ Mercury Lounge (Late Show) - Pyyramids (LA) is the side project from OK Go bassist Tim Nordwind
- Spiritualized, Nikki Lane @ Terminal 5 - Still not a huge fan but Spiritualized latest release receives acclaim.

Tuesday / May 8th
- Bear in Heaven, Blouse, Doldrums @ Bowery Ballroom - nice new album from Bear in Heaven ; Blouse is a trio from Portland crafting ethereal yet driving electronic pop signed to BK's Captured Tracks. Reminds me of a more upbeat version of Broadcast.
- Dead Confederate, The Doorbells @ Mercury Lounge (Early Show)
- Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros @ Roseland Ballroom - Always wanted to see these guys live ; their new single "that's what's up" is great.
- Florence and the Machine, Blood Orange @ Radio City Music Hall
- Races, Sean Bones, Right On Dynamite @ The Rock Shop - Races from LA are newly signed to Frenchkiss records ; their debut is solid and they are one of my favorite discoveries from CMJ last year. They play again at Mercury Lounge the next day.

- Doe Paoro (May residency), Jason Urick, Future Shuttle, ITAL (DJ Set) @ Cameo Gallery 
- Hundred Waters, North Highlands, Vensaire @ Glasslands BK's North Highlands put out a charming LP entitled Wild One last year. FL's Hundred Waters sound very interesting, first of two chances to check them out this week. Hoping to catch one of the 2 shows from both of these bands this week.

- Kittenberry Crunch, Jangula, Mattie Safer, Steel Phantoms @ Pianos - Jangula sound nice
- Zambri, Computer Magic, Test House, DJ Noel Heroux (Hooray for Earth), DJ Kurt Feldman (The Pains of Being Pure at Heart) @ Public Assembly - Nice indie electro pop from Computer Magic ; Test House is the New York City-based duo of Peter Schuette (ex-Silk Flowers, ex-Psychobuildings) and James Elliott (ex-Bear In Heaven, ex-School of Seven Bells). They blend different forms of intelligent dance music.
