Roger Waters x Slick x Coachella - Lost Giant Inflatable Graffitied Pig

Some of you might have already heard about this by now, but during Roger Waters' set at Coachella, a giant inflatable pig was launched from behind the stage and pyrotechnics as Waters began playing Pink Floyd's "Pigs." As if this wasn't crazy enough of a story, turns out the pig floated off into the air after it floated over the crowd and was lost! Checkout this article for the full story and the $10,000 reward to the people that found it:

The one part of the story that is super important though and doesn't seem to be getting much coverage is regarding the artist that was responsible for the awesome graffiti that adorned the big ol' flying piggy- Slick from the Dissizit brand. Here's a photo of him working on the piece before the show, and for the full story, checkout his blog post:

"Incredible Hulk" Theatrical Trailer - Maybe there's hope for this film after all...

(these Guys will always be the real Hulk and Banner to me)

The new full theatrical trailer to "The Incredible Hulk" was just released and looks way better than the first one. I've gone ahead and embedded it here, but I'd definitely recommend checking it out on high quality quicktime over at Apple:

And while we're on the topic of superhero movies, I just saw "Iron Man" last night and it's pretty badass- doesn't exactly have the drama or indie aesthetic of Batman Begins, but it's definitely a fun summer movie worth your cash money money. Checkout the reviews here, and click on the image below for the quicktime trailer- Robert Downey Jr IS this movie and totally makes it:

**UPDATE - Looks like Iron Man's on track for a $90 million opening weekend..

Art Opening this Sat May 3 - "Four Months in Heaven" by Vahe Berberian

FoundTrack amiga Vanessa from the Ambrogi | Castanier Gallery is hosting an art opening this Saturday featuring the paintings of Vahe Berberian. Berberian (also a writer and director) has a really raw and simple form to his paintings, so far as to say they are reminiscent of cave drawings. The work gives off a really simple yet honest vibe and his work style suits this as he believes in being in isolation while working.

See details for the opening reception on the invite above- it's on Saturday May 3rd from 6-10pm and if you're in the LA area, you can catch the exhibit until May 24th. Berberian also happens to be friends with another famous Armenian artist, the musician Serj Tankian (of System of a Down and Solo fame). This music video is an alternate but official take on Tankian's song "Sky is Over" and features Vahe painting an entire piece during the course of the song. Very cool stuff to witness:

Return of a vintage classic- BMW M1 concept

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of one of the most badass supercars of all time, the BMW M1, the company has created this Hommage concept of a new M1. The low and wide profile perfectly captures the aesthetic of the orginal:

I'm loving this snapshot with the new car and it's BMW supercar brethren- the orange/red color is rad!... reminds me of my parent's crazy eighties furniture!:

Gray, White and Black Nike Air Flight '89s now at Rakuten

While I don't find myself wearing too many Nikes, I'm definitely a fan of white shoes and like to wear a lot of white and black in general. Nike fan or not, its hard to argue that the Air Flight '89 isn't one of the most classic sneakers ever. I'm loving this uber simple yet stylin' colorway... the speckled finish on the gray portions do just enough to give them a little spice and set them apart. Unfortunately, unless you're in Japan though, looks like you'll have to pick these up online at Rakuten.

Technics x Marvel Comics T-shirts

So earlier today I was practicing DJing for the first time in 6 years with FoundTrack friend Jose from the Indie 103 morning show, and let me tell you, it's not like riding a bike. While I had to learn Serato, one thing is still the same- the old school Technics 1200s are still the turntables of choice. DJs and Comic Books have always kinda gone together, so this new t-shrt team up between Technics and Marvel comics is a match made in nerd heaven:

Marvel's brought out all their classic all stars for this line including Spiderman, Captain America, and two that have films coming out this summer- the Incredible Hulk (which isn't lookin' too hot) and Iron Man (which I can give you the inside word on and tell you is gonna be pretty awesome thanks to Robert Downey Jr.):

See more at the Source- I Love Your T shirt

Levis x 686 Sneak Peak

Don't know much about these, but they look rad- denim classics Levis and snowboard apparel label 686 come together for this collabo. Just a preview for now, but more to come- love the beads sown into the classic Levis stitching...

Lily's back

So the Foundtrack's favorite Londoner, Lily Allen, has been back in the studio, as she has posted a couple of new tracks on her myspace page. The general consensus appears to be that this is a more grown up sound for Lily and definitely reflective of her rocky personal life.

On her blog she writes, "...I've been working hard in the studio. I posted a couple of new songs to get an idea of my new direction, they are just at a demo stage so don't be too hard on them. I hope you enjoy this shizzle. Aiiight."

I can definitely say that these teaser tracks have definitely put Lily's new album on my most wanted list for 2008.

Check out one of Lily's old tracks, "Cheryl Tweedy" from back in the day on the Foundtrack's very first mix from July 2006.

And as a special treat for all you peeps that haven't had the opportunity to watch Lily Allen's new show (which has been recommissioned for a second series - congrats Lil!) on the BBC, here's a clip from the pilot episode.

Nick Walker - "Bowler Hatted Vandal" projections

A couple of nights ago, that other famous graffiti artist from Bristol, was up to no good! Nick Walker put on a large-scale and very public stunt in London to promote his new show which opened up at the Black Rat Press Gallery last night at 6pm. Apparently, people were so eager to catch the show that they were lined up in sleeping bags up to 36 hours before the show opened - now that's dedication!

The press release about this says:

"Walker projected his famous ‘Bowler Hatted Vandal’ character onto both the bank of England and Big Ben. Titled ‘V for vandalism’ these huge projections featured a city gent in a pin striped suite giving the V sign. This is the first time any street artist has used projections to do street work and it thought to be the largest work done by any UK street artist including Banksy."

Although, it seems that Banksy may have tried to do this some years ago, and this one a few days ago....

The Art and Graphic Design work of Maya Hayuk

Maya Hayuk is a New York based artist and graphic designer that definitely isn't afraid of busting out with some explosive color use. While the pics I selected for this post tend to jive towards the abstract graphic design aesthetic, her work is actually super varied and consists of everything from paintings to murals, to photography to sketches. Really love the juxtaposition of the bright colors against the black and white interior and bleak sunset in the following :

Here's an example of some of her commissioned commercial work- you can checkout much much more at her official site:

* If you dig the use of color and modern feel of Hayuk's work, you might also dig the work of another artist FoundTrack has featured- Chuck Anderson.

Wacky Publicity Stunt- Gnarls Barkley releases backwards version of new LP

This is sure to go down as one of the more bizarre publicity stunts in recent music industry history. Super duo Gnarls Barkley (Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse) is releasing their new LP "THE ODD COUPLE" as a free online download. But wait you say- this isn't anything new, both Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails did it recently, right? Not like this they didn't- LOL, you can only download a backwards version of the album, fittingly entitled "ELPUOC DDO EHT." Funny enough, this album backwards is way better than a lot of current music being played normally.

You can checkout this little experiment at the link above, or for the original version of their single "Run", download FoundTrack's March '08 MixTape.

YOU ARE BEING WATCHED! - Best Banksy piece yet

International Mystery Man and Street Artist Galore, Banksy, has pulled off his craziest stunt and craziest piece of work yet. This piece showed up in Central London a few hours after construction scaffolding covered in a sheet of plastic was erected in the same place. Under the cover of what passers thought was routine construction work, Banksy struck again and painted this awesome work- "One Nation Under CCTV." While some people might think the US has potential "Big Brother" issues, London is definitely the most well known city in the world to employ mass CCTV security cameras in public places- this work definitely pokes a finger at said issue...

* If you dig this piece, you can checkout more Banksy work here, here and here.

* Listen to a rare music track by Banksy and Danger Mouse on FoundTrack's November '06 MixTape.

Nom De Guerre Fall / Winter 2008 collection

Nom de Guerre is consistent in their ability to release lines of modern edgy clothing that somehow maintain a classic sensibility. Every new collection they release is as exciting for me to checkout as the last. While I don't recommend it for combat use as the gentleman below seems to be getting ready for, the neck wear and jacket are awesome:

I'm a big fan of anything that incorporates a techy/military look, so I'm definitely a big fan of these crazy suspenders:

Utah Saints - Something Good '08 (Remix)

Back in the 90's, there was a band called Utah Saints, and they had modest success in the UK with some top ten dance tunes. And they did the Mortal Kombat theme tune. Now they're back, with a remix by Warren Clarke. This is nothing to be excited about, because every few months or so, we see this influx of 90s songs being remixed by DJ's that add a new backing track and release it as a brand new single. However, the reason this was brought to my attention (thanks bro!) was because of the awesomeness of the video. See what you think below:

Note: Welsh = funny (if you don't believe me, check out the genius that is Gavin and Stacey)

Rose McGowan still set to play Barbarella... and still no Jane Fonda

After a bit of controversy, looks like Rose McGowan will indeed be playing Barbarella in Robert Rodriguez's remake of the film, and that production is moving forward full steam. Trouble seemed to be brewing a few months ago when Universal, the studio behind the film, was reportedly peeved that Rodriguez cast McGowan based on the fact that they were an item. Personally, I don't mind her, but there's no way she can keep up with the O.G. bad-ass that was Jane Fonda. Checkout the rad vintage poster and trailer to Paramount and director Dino De Laurentiis' 1968 original and decide for yourself:

Ducati Monster 696 - The design beauty I'd ride (if I could ride)

Look, I don't have a motorcycle license, let alone know how to ride a bike, but I do know a thing or two about motor vehicles and technology. When I finally get off my ass and learn how to ride, I'm going to get me one these. The Ducati Monster 696 is a total design beauty- the bike is known for it's stripped down look and function. Love the exposed frame and modern yet seemingly classic design.
