Yohji Yamamoto's Adidas Y-3 Spring Summer '09 Collection

It looks like Yohji Yamamoto's Y-3 Collection for Adidas continues to flourish. All of these footwear pieces come from the line's Spring/Summer '09 collection and feature simple updates on classic trainer design. These shoes all seem to follow a k.i.s.s. aesthetic while maintaining a unique feel. Take a look at a few samples from the collection and keep in mind I only picked a few of my favorites to showcase- you can checkout the rest of the collection, here:

Love the embossed take on the classic Adidas 3 stripes on these ones:

These bad boys should make up for the lack of the Adidas "Country" model in recent years. The offset lace hole is a cool touch:

What would this patent leather colorway be called?... marble/cabernet? Whatever it is they're awesome:

Can't go wrong with the classic sprint model:

Awesome job on the fading flannel like pattern on these ones:

Movie Trailer Mondays - Less than a month until Watchmen...

Was driving by Melrose and Fairfax to meet my Brooklyn buddies Jamie (aka DJ BFF) and Missy (aka Garden Designer Extraordinaire) when I saw this dope new billboard for Watchmen. The movie debuts in less than a month and looks to be a banger, albeit a dark one. Checkout these two new spots to manage your cravings until March 6th:

Radiohead x USC Marching band live @ the Grammy's

As usual a few performances actually managed to impress at this year's Grammy show. One of the two best performances was this collaboration between Radiohead and USC's marching band (which continues a long tradition of the 'SC band backing up major performers at the show). The drums are dope!:

AND, the other cool performance from the night was a tight new live arrangement of "Swagga Like Us" featuring Jay-Z, Kanye, Lil Wayne and a VERY preggers M.I.A. :

"Warner Brothers" responds to Bale Flipping out (and he apologizes)

This is too hilarious. "Warner Brothers" responds regarding Christian Bale's recent leaked tape of him flipping out on the set of Terminator Salvation:

Oh yeah, and Bale called in to KROQ today and apologized. Was this whole thing a planned promotional stunt for Terminator 4? hmmm...:

Louis Vuitton x Kanye West Sneaker - Sneak Peak

"Everybody's got an addiction, mine is shoes. It started with my very first pair of Kangaroos. And to L it see, made for tennis I play none of it, but I owned em' in brown and black and suede, but that was hardly the beginnin of my obscene spendin" - Lexicon "Nikehead".

The tennis shoe fetish has long been a part of the hip hop community - whether we're talking about Run-DMC or Lexicon - tennis shoes have been an obsession of many rap artist. My obsession had me running home everyday after school, reaching for my sneaker kit - a shoe box in pristine condition containing a bottle of 1. Rubbing Alcohol 2. Windex 3. A hand towel 4. Clean Shoe Laces - Keeping the sneaks clean was a must.

Louis Vuitton has teamed up with the "Imelda Marcos" of the tennis shoe game - The Louie Vuitton Don himself, Mr. Kanye West. Kanye designed a line of 5 shoes for the French fashion house, with oversight from their chief designer Marc Jacobs. The red shoe design below was the only one that made the cut for the show.

“The inspiration came from a jacket with a huge collar in the movie ‘Dune,’ ” West says. “Most sneakers focus on the tongue, so I wanted to do something different.” West knows whereof he speaks: he says he has no idea how many shoes he owns, but he does know that he routinely needs to send shipments off to storage.

Be on the look out for the LV-KW shoe which is reported to hit stores in June. Start saving now - these bad boys will put you back 5-hundo ($500). Checkout the rest of the colorways below...

February '09 Events @ Space 15 Twenty

FoundTrack's friends over at Space 15 Twenty have a bunch of cool events coming up in February if you happen to be in the LA area. For those of you who aren't familiar with it, Space 15 Twenty is an experimental mixed used space by Urban Outfitters that showcases fashion, art, and related tenants. A full list of current stores (including Alife and Hennessey + Ingalls) and pop-up shops can be found at their official site. I've managed to get out there a few times now and the constantly evolving space always has something rad going on in terms of art, live music, film screenings and most importantly fashion. Here's what's coming up this month:

Jini's Pick of the Week - Kidrobot x Selfridges

The first time I heard about Kidrobot was when I lived back in LA and my friends had set up a myspace page for a smoking rabbit! So, now I'm glad that London is giving the bunnies some high-profile love now too! One of my favourite department stores in the whole world, Selfridges has teamed up with the Kidrobot guys to create a Kidrobot universe in Selfridges' Wonder Room concept store, complete with a store gallery and shop showcasing the brands toys, tees, hoodies and a collection of original print bags. If you want some exclusive dunnys and munnys, check it out now (or just admire the giant pink bunny in the store window as I do every night on my way home from work!)
The Kidrobot x Selfridges Store-gallery will be located at 400 Oxford Street and will operate from January 22 through February 21.
