Art meets Machine- F131 Hellcat Combat Powercycle

As a recent M1 licensee, I've been taking to the streets and enjoying the true unity between man and machine - let me tell you it is amazing feeling. Let me also be honest with you, it is nerve wrecking!!! As with many things in life, those that give us the greatest fear or challenge also provide a greater sense of reward. During my window shopping - that is Window PC/online shopping - I've seen several types of motorcycles from various manufacturers (big, small, and one man-bands). The other day I came across something that would make the Boy Wonder himself say, "Good golly Batman!"


The F131 Hellcat Combat Motorcycle may be one of the most beautiful motorcycles I've ever seen. The talented group at Confederate MOTORCYCLES have created a masterpiece of metal, aluminum and rubber. This Bike is Bad A$!!! Although I could never picture Adam West riding this bad boy, I could definitely see Christian Bale scouring the streets of Gotham on the HELLCAT! If I were working for Warner Bros. I would definitely contact Confederate for a concept Bike for the next Dark Knight feature. Clean, lean and mean...this is one hell of a riding machine! The combination of art, craftsmanship and design make this bike number one on my list - unfortunately for me this work of art will set you back around $60K - a little out of my league!

Aston Martin's Project One-77 - Quantum of Hotness...

Those of you that saw the new Bond movie last weekend got to see the gorgeous Aston Martin DBS in action during the opening scene. If you thought that car was amazing, just wait until you feast your eyes on this new brand new beauty- the Aston Martin Project One-77. The One-77 is an extremely limited edition automobile that is designed and hand built to spec, in a run of only 77 vehicles. Lead designer Marek Reichmann was asked to design THE ultimate Aston without limits or restraint. While the final design ended up looking quite modern, it is without a doubt a classic Aston Martin... Take for instance, the classic Aston grille:


While the car has the specs to back it's good looks (700 horsepower anyone?), raw power and stats have never been the primary concern of the brand. Rather, the true purpose of an Aston is to find balance between performance, luxury and design. Driving and owning one of these cars should be similar to being measured and wearing a bespoke suit. While it may sound like I'm kissing this car's ass, I must say I'm still not completely blind to its faults- I'm definitely not that impressed by the vehicle's side profile (but that can always change when you see a car in person):


All in all I'm hard pressed to think of a more stylish car brand on the market right now, and with the One-77, Aston is really positioning themselves to play with the big dogs- watch out Bugatti Veyron...

Movie Trailer Monday - "Transporter 3"... wait... really?

So I noticed I've posted "Oscar hopeful" films the past couple weeks on Movie Trailer Mondays, so I decided to switch things up and provide some good ol' wholesome and brainless fun times for all. The new trailer to "Transporter 3" has been released, and it looks like it continues the tradition of insane car chases, and over the top fight scenes the franchise is known for. Dapper tough dude Jason Statham is back as the driver, and this time has to deliver a package so valuable that he's forced to wear a wrist bomb that will go off if he gets too far from his car (the signature Audi is back, but unfortunately it isn't this model). OH, and I forgot to mention one thing- the awesome Robert Knepper who plays the homicidal maniac "T-Bag" on Prison Break (my #1 guilty pleasure on TV) plays the villain in Transporter 3 as well... should be pretty creepy:

Movie Trailer Monday - "The Soloist" and new "Quantum of Solace"

I kinda hate being on a rigid schedule, but I'm going try and start posting a couple fun movie trailers here every Monday. First up, we have the trailer to Dreamworks' "The Soloist" starring Mister Man of the Summer himself, Robert Downey Jr and this other guy called Jamie Foxx ;)~ The film's about a newspaper writer that befriends a homeless string instrument genius. The buzz is that this one's sure to be a good Oscar shot for both Downey Jr and Foxx:



Next up, it's time to get your Brioni Tux pressed, fill up the tank on the Aston Martin, and pour yourself a cold vodka martini, because everyone's favorite GQ spy is back. The new trailer to the upcoming James Bond 007 film, "Quantum of Solace" gets way more into the actual story of the film than the initial teaser trailer. Just like Chris Nolan did with the last two Batman films, these new Daniel Craig Bond movies have gotten back to the gritty realistic style of storytelling that writer Ian Flemming intended in his original 007 novels. Looks like there''ll be something in this film for movie geeks, action fans, fashionistas and car enthusists alike. We're stoked for this one:

Audi R8 Symphony

(The R8 fittingly parked outside of the Walt Disney Concert Hall, home of the LA Sympony Orchestra)

I'm a big fan of creative marketing and publicity stunts, so this Audi produced event totally got my attention. The German automaker asked a symphony and DJs from the group Bauhouse to create a live musical experience set to video during the R8s Brazilian launch. The Audi R8 is one of the most stylish cars to be released in a long time and apparently has the performace to match the visual flair (it was good enough for Tony Stark aka Iron Man). The Wiesmann GT MF4 - Automotive Art and Beauty

From an aesthetic standpoint, the Wiesmann GT MF4 is quite simply a piece of art and beauty. This German ride however, is not just a thing of beauty, it's also got quite a bit of beast to it as well. The car is built around a BMW V8, and one can only imagine how that much power would feel like in a car this small.

I first stumbled upon this car while perusing the "Cartorialist" (one of my favorite new blogs). Think of the site as a version of GQ's Sartorialist that's dedicated to man's real best friend. The live photos here were taken from the Cartorialist, and all the photos on the site are shot live and out in the open.

I'm loving the Jaguar Mark 2-esque grille in the photo above. What really strikes me about this car is that the designers did such a great job of creating an amalgamation of contemporary and classic design...

GORGEOUS... it looks like a way classier and sleeker version of the BMW Z4:

BadAss Icare Concept Motorcycle

Enzyme-Design's "Icare Concept" motorcycle is the sickest bike I've ever seen... I want one now. The thing is powered by a 6-cylinder Honda Engine! (that's like, bigger than the engine in the Civic).

This bike totally looks like it was inspired by the one in the cult classic Japanese animated movie, "Akira":

I think this the Icare might take away the title of "Only Motorcycle I'd ever want" from the Ducati Monster. I love this angle of the bike- it looks like the bastard child of a Stealth Fighter and a :

Bugatti Veyron "Sang Noir" Edition

A few months ago we featured the Hermes Edition of the Bugatti Veyron (a car which is evidently capable of racing a jet fighter). Looks like those crazy mad scientists at Bugatti are at it again- this time they've revealed the "Sang Noir" edition.. which translated in French basically means "Blood Black" or "Pure Black." The car is almost entirely made of black exterior components... some of them are carbon fiber to reduce weight.

Contrasting this awesome pool of darkness is the bold orange interior. I don't know about you, but Bugatti might be trudging on Batman's territory with this one...

Ferrari California

The car of your dreams is finally here. Or mine anyway. Although my number one "car that I can never afford" is still the Aston Martin DB9, the Ferrari California is being touted as one of the most beautiful contemporary Ferraris ever built, and I'd have to agree with that. As well as a featuring a stunning exterior, it features a folding hard top (a Ferrari first), and an upgrade of the F430 engine. Unlike the 4.3 litre V8, the California's engine has direct injection that helps boost power to 460bhp at 7,500rpm. The engine is mounted in the front but as far back in the bulkhead as possible to improve the car's handling.

Although there are still few details about performance, rumours suggest that it will do 0-60mph in under 4 seconds, while its seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual gearbox is another Ferrari first. Expected price is bound to be over $280,000 - so better start saving now.

1961 250 GT SWB Spyder California up for Auction

Classic Ferrari fans have something to look forward to - the Italian super car maker will be hosting RM Auctions' Ferrari: Leggenda e Passione sale at their Pininfarina facility, featuring some of their original and best condition cars. The car pictured above is the 1961 250 GT SWB Spyder California that was owned by actor James Coburn. Better make sure you put that Federal tax rebate credit aside - this curvy black beauty is estimated at $4.6 to $5.9 million.

Return of a vintage classic- BMW M1 concept

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of one of the most badass supercars of all time, the BMW M1, the company has created this Hommage concept of a new M1. The low and wide profile perfectly captures the aesthetic of the orginal:

Return of a cult classic - 2008 Land Rover Defender 90 SVX

As part of British marque Land Rover's 60th anniversary, the company will be re-releasing the Defender 90- a vehicle that has a major cult car enthusiast following. The O.G. suv is known for its off road capability and rugged but stylish design. See here how it looks next to the very first model:

Ducati Monster 696 - The design beauty I'd ride (if I could ride)

Look, I don't have a motorcycle license, let alone know how to ride a bike, but I do know a thing or two about motor vehicles and technology. When I finally get off my ass and learn how to ride, I'm going to get me one these. The Ducati Monster 696 is a total design beauty- the bike is known for it's stripped down look and function. Love the exposed frame and modern yet seemingly classic design.

What I'd drive if I lived in the Fifties- 1955 Porsche 356

Checkout this uber limited prototype version of the 1955 Porsche 356. If I was around in the fifties and had a fat disposable income, I'd be rolling this thing down Melrose lookin' like the baddest cat on the block...
It's really wicked unique because it looks like the bastard child of a typical Porsche and a World War II fighter plane. If I couldn't drive it, then James Bond or Bruce Wayne would look pretty good in it as well.

Bugatti x Hermes Veyron Fbg super car - Auto & Luxury Collide

File this one under our sheer and utter excess category... a category I'm F'in loving right now. Bugatti, makers of super rare and ferocious Veyron (the only car I've ever heard of that can go head to head with a fighter jet) have teamed up with French fashion house Hermès on an even rarer take on the car.

The detail on this thing rocks- lovin' the two tone gloss and the matte paint job. The car features a hand stiched interior and custom Hermès designed wheels to top things off:

Apparently the story behind the collaboration dates back to the 1920s when Ettore Bugatti and Émile Hermès first met. Funny- Hermès started off as a saddle maker- wonder how long it would take them to make enough saddles for the 1000+ ponies that this baby has?

Car vs Fighter Jet- (Bugatti Veyron vs. Eurofighter Typhoon)

This needs to get categorized under sheer insanity and excess... The good British chaps over at Top Gear, realized there was no other car that could go up against the $1,000,000 plus Bugatti Veyron, so they decided to put it up against a fighter plane:


What ensues is total madness- in fact, it almost beats out the craziest car and driving related story I've heard in the last year. I won't reveal anything, but lets just say this thing was way too close for comfort:
