Vans keeps it simple - Kingdom Plaid Pack

With their new Kingdom Plaid Pack, Vans once again proves that the K.I.S.S. mentality is one to follow- less is usually more. The model above is the classic "Era" and the following is the "Chukka" style boot- both feature a timeless plaid pattern. You can grab these and several other Vans styles at Japan's Essense online shop :

Yohji Yamamoto's Adidas Y-3 Spring Summer '09 Collection

It looks like Yohji Yamamoto's Y-3 Collection for Adidas continues to flourish. All of these footwear pieces come from the line's Spring/Summer '09 collection and feature simple updates on classic trainer design. These shoes all seem to follow a k.i.s.s. aesthetic while maintaining a unique feel. Take a look at a few samples from the collection and keep in mind I only picked a few of my favorites to showcase- you can checkout the rest of the collection, here:

Love the embossed take on the classic Adidas 3 stripes on these ones:

These bad boys should make up for the lack of the Adidas "Country" model in recent years. The offset lace hole is a cool touch:

What would this patent leather colorway be called?... marble/cabernet? Whatever it is they're awesome:

Can't go wrong with the classic sprint model:

Awesome job on the fading flannel like pattern on these ones:

Louis Vuitton x Kanye West Sneaker - Sneak Peak

"Everybody's got an addiction, mine is shoes. It started with my very first pair of Kangaroos. And to L it see, made for tennis I play none of it, but I owned em' in brown and black and suede, but that was hardly the beginnin of my obscene spendin" - Lexicon "Nikehead".

The tennis shoe fetish has long been a part of the hip hop community - whether we're talking about Run-DMC or Lexicon - tennis shoes have been an obsession of many rap artist. My obsession had me running home everyday after school, reaching for my sneaker kit - a shoe box in pristine condition containing a bottle of 1. Rubbing Alcohol 2. Windex 3. A hand towel 4. Clean Shoe Laces - Keeping the sneaks clean was a must.

Louis Vuitton has teamed up with the "Imelda Marcos" of the tennis shoe game - The Louie Vuitton Don himself, Mr. Kanye West. Kanye designed a line of 5 shoes for the French fashion house, with oversight from their chief designer Marc Jacobs. The red shoe design below was the only one that made the cut for the show.

“The inspiration came from a jacket with a huge collar in the movie ‘Dune,’ ” West says. “Most sneakers focus on the tongue, so I wanted to do something different.” West knows whereof he speaks: he says he has no idea how many shoes he owns, but he does know that he routinely needs to send shipments off to storage.

Be on the look out for the LV-KW shoe which is reported to hit stores in June. Start saving now - these bad boys will put you back 5-hundo ($500). Checkout the rest of the colorways below...

Yohji Yamamoto's Adidas Y-3 Fall Winter '08 Collection

One of my favorite brands out there is Adidas' high end line by Japanese designer Yohji Yamamato, Y-3. Each season's Y-3 collection continues pushing the brand's sportswear meets high fashion concept and the Fall / Winter 2008 pieces are definitely in line with this aesthetic. This stuff definitely has a "what if the olympics took place in a distopian future" sort of vibe to it:

Hoodie with transforming hidden hood in the collar a la 80s Nike windbreakers:

High fashion bubble vest when you want to go train like Rocky, except in style:

And now, to Y-3's bread and butter, shoes. These ones here seem to take the brand in a new direction with a hardcore asskickin'-boot look:

And some simple yet modern sneakers and denim that are more in line with what we've come to expect from Y-3:

Creative Recreation x Barneys Fall 2008 Exclusives

(the Cesario model)

It's been a while since I've posted a nice white on white shoe, so when I saw these new Creative Recreation x Barneys exclusives for Fall 2008 I had to jump on them. Now that I've completed that last sentence though, I'm looking at the picture above and wondering if they're actually grey and the lighting is making them look white? Oh well, I'll just imagine they're white for now. For those of you that want a little more excitement, checkout this lo model with the black and purple trim:

(the Cesario lo model)

Or for those of you traveling to other planets with LiL Wayne and Kanye, here's a hi model with some awesome patent leather accents with plenty of Creative Recreation's signature velcro buckles to top things off:

Gear for the Ladies from Obey and Giuseppe Zanotti

I figured it's been a while since we featured any cool fashion pieces for the fairer sex, so here we go. The jacket above is part of a new collaboration between Shepard Fairey's Obey, and hip hop legends, Public Enemy. I'm a big fan of industrial/tech looking fashion and I like how the jacket is pretty tailored and form fitting. You can checkout the rest of the women's AND men's collections over at Karma Loop.

Next up are these seriously crazy shoes/boots from Giuseppe Zanotti. Not sure if any of you girls would actually wear them or not, but at lease from a design standpoint, they're pretty cool. If the patent leather wasn't enough on it's own, the designer threw in some totally contrasting but rad shiny disco ball heels. Would any of you chicas out there actually wear these things, or am I just nuts? Available at Net-a-porter.

Adidas AdiTennis Hi - Vintage Courts to Modern Streets

Like many trainers that are popular in casual day to day wear, the Adidas AdiTennis Hi originated as an athletic shoe. In this case they were obviously meant to be worn on the tennis court. All I can say is that I'm glad fashion has officially beaten function for this model. While the white pair above is my favorite (the texture on the back is awesome), the AdiTennis is available in a variety of colors and patterns:

These are awesome in a "stylin' grandpa" kinda way:

Available at Adidas Originals

Kobe McFly - Nike Hyperdunk Release at Undefeated

You'd think that almost twenty years after the making of Back to the Future II, we would have flying cars, hovercraft skateboards, and Pizza Hut in 30 seconds or less. Well, last week we finally started to see our first hint of the 2015 BTTF we saw in '89 with the official release of the "Air McFly" Nike Hyperdunk, inspired by the shoes worn by Michael J. Fox in the Spielberg classic. Kobe Bryant attended the release at Santa Monica's Undefeated in a Delorean modeled after the film.

I could see it now, in an effort to promote the Air McFly's while laying rest to the naysayers, Kobe performs the controversial jump over the car but this time in front of a live audience of shoe-gazers with the DeLorean instead of the Maserati. RESULT- When Kobe lands the car is still several feet in front of him due to it's zero to sixty in two and a half minutes. The first 10 people in line got to meet Kobe and got their shoes autographed. Unfortunately, there were only 340 more released, which left many fans empty handed. The rest of us will have to bid it out on ebay, where they are currently going for over $1500. Otherwise, you can rely on these Nu Shooz to get you through if you can't wait or live the dream below.

Special thanks to Marchelle of Bedtime For Toys for always keeping us hip with the new kicks.

Adidas' aZX Collection: Models A-H: HUF, Colette, & D-Mop

Every year Adidas seems to run a major and groundbreaking promotional campaign themed around one of it's shoes or styles (think Shelltoe 35th Anniversary, Adicolor, etc). This year, they're launching the "aZX" collection. Essentially, Adidas is bringing several high profile designers, starting with the letter A to design their take on the ZX model. The first 8 models, A-H have recently been revealed. The model pictured above is the "H" model designed by San Francisco based HUF. I love the pinstripe/seersucker feel they've got going on.

I'm a total white shoe kinda guy, so the "C" pair above by French boutique Colette (purveyors of all things trendy) totally got my attention the most. Love how the otherwise simple shoe is made way more interesting by the type pattern.

The last pair from the initial 8 that really caught my eye was the "D" model by Hong Kong's D-Mop (seems to be a big week for Hong Kong brands.... first Indigo Farm, and now this). An otherwise classic 80s shoe is made way more contemporary through the use of the crazy textures- namely the metallic reptile skin.

** You can checkout the rest of the collection at High Snobiety

** UPDATE- FoundTrack's main man DJ KnewJack, just featured a few more pairs on the Squeak E Clean blog.

Converse's 100 Year Anniverary continues- August '08 Shoe releases

Looks like Converse is on fire these days. Not only are they releasing exclusive music tracks, but Converse Japan is also continuing their 100th anniversary with these rad releases for August. I'm a big fan of white canvas hightops, so I definitely score a pair of the "P-L/T Elegance Hi" models above. The following feature a unique modern texture and color pattern on a hip classic, the Jack Purcell- this particular version being called the "Rly Metagater":
This next hybrid "V-3 Knee Hi" version of the classic Chuck Taylor All Star is so crazy, I'm not even sure if the Joker could pull em off. At least they're purple:

Here next are some lowtop All Stars called the "Chic OX." A little patent leather never hurt everyone... as for red patent leather, I'm not sure if I can say the same ;)

And so with that, we leave on a safer impression of the color red. Here are some Jack Purcell "Quilt Mids":
