- Night Beats, K-Holes and Mmoss @ Knitting Factory BK - Night Beats are garage rockers from Seattle, they are in the midst of a tour with Black Angels and members from both bands assembled a new project called UFO Club.
- Sinkane, Rakete (Akwetey of Dragons of Zynth) and DJ Ryan Rasheed @ Zebulon (free show) Yeasayer drummer Sinkane will be holding a residency every Monday in August with different special guests each night.

- Animal Kingdom, Royal Teeth @ Mercury Lounge (Early Show) - Animal Kingdom is a trio from North London recently signed to Mom + Pop for their lush and atmospheric sophomore release this past May, they visit on their way to Lollapalooza and Outside Lands ; Louisiana's Royal Teeth is a new signing to Dangerbird records and were impressed me big time in their visit to NY a few months back.
- Band Mom Presents Bright Moments, Valley Lodge, Good Field @ Union Hall - Beirut brassist Kelly Pratt plays an intimate affair in Park Slope before aiding St. Vincent and David Byrne on their upcoming tour, which includes dates at Beacon Theater and Williamsburg Park.  Valley Lodge includes comedian/writer Dave Hill and Walt Mink's John Kimbrough. Austin's Good Field has only been performing since February and have already spent a few weeks on CMJ's top 200 chart. This will be their first official show in NYC.

- Deidre and the Dark, Fast Years @ Glasslands - cute retro doo-wop girl group sound from Deidre and surf pop act Fast Years sounds nice as well on the cusp of rocking boats at the 4Knots Festival.

- Frank Ocean : Channel Orange Tour @ Terminal 5 (SOLD OUT) - OFWGKTA member Frank Ocean has been the talk of the music industry since releasing his long-awaited debut, appopriately just in time for the announcement of his bisexual orientation ; all that aside, dude is a very talented songwriter and deserves all the attention.
- Brooklyn Vegan Presents Trash Talk with special guests and DJ Leftbrain (OFWGKTA) @ 285 Kent Avenue (FREE - Late Show) - wear your armor for this one ; it's gonna get carazy.
- Tyler the Creator, Earth Sweatshirt, Raekwon and Asher Roth @ Best Buy Theater (SOLD OUT)
- The Dust Rays, Smoota (TV On the Radio), SORNE @ Brooklyn Bowl 
- Poolside (DJ Set) @ Hudson Terrace (FREE with RSVP)  - Poolside's daytime disco sounds exactly like where you want to hear it ; incredible self-release from duo including former member of Ima Robot (and no, not Alex from Ed Sharpe) ; they play a live set the following day ; not to be missed.
- Milo Greene, Family Of The Year @ Mercury Lounge (Early Show/ SOLD OUT) - Milo's standing O's in opening for the Civil Wars + a feature in Esquuire's bands to watch in 2012 = a good sequence of buzz  following their debut release on Warner this week and a SOLD OUT date in NY in addition to a guest spot on Letterman.  Check out this NPR feature to see how their name was born. 
- Eternal Summers (Record Release), Ex Cops @ Mercury Lounge (Late Show)-  Roanoke, Vigrinia's self professed dream punk outfit Eternal Summers releases their sophomore record this week.

- Spirit Animal, Sanctuaries, Ludlow Thieves, Midnight Spin @ Glasslands
- Onra, Dam-Funk (DJ Set) @ Santos Party House
- Best Coast, Those Darlins, DIIV @ Terminal 5 (SOLD OUT) - DIIV are averaging a show every week now so we have no excuse in seeing one of this year's best new bands ;  i heard they put on a killer one last week at 285 Kent including lots of stage dives.
- The Outlaw Roadshow feat. Counting Crows, We Are Augustines, Field Report, Casie Anderson and the Honkies @ Williamsburg Park - Counting Crows are one of my favorite bands of all time and they produced possibly my favorite album (August and Everything After)... a shame I'll be in LA, especially with We Are Augustines opening. Field Report also sound promising and will play again the later in the week at mercury lounge.

- Shut Up and Play the Hits (2011) @ Select Theaters Nationwide (One Night Only) - documentary follows James Murphy and LCD Soundsystem for 48 hours as they play their last gig ever at Madison Square Garden.

- FREE Screening of Raising Arizona (1987) with live music from Talk Normal, Tim Harrington, Dustin Wong @ McCarren Park (6pm - doors / 6:30 - bands / 8:15 - film) - Nick Cage has played every role imaginable but many say this may be one of his best.

- White Iris Presents Lobby @ Ace Hotel (FREE) - not familiar with lobby but White Iris has been at the forefront of some great acts so it's worth paying attention to their weekly showcase at Ace.
- Angel Haze, Carrie Wilds, King Leo, and DJ sets by Venus X and Covert Kids @ Santos Party House (Shortcuts) - NYC Debut of 21 year old multi-faceted rapid flow female rapper Angel Haze ; Shortcuts party doubles as a release party for her new EP, Reservation, which comes out on July 17 via True Panther/Noizy Cricket/Biz 3 Records and as her live NYC debut. Dean Wareham (plays Galaxie 500 - FINAL NYC SHOW), TEEN @ Le Poisson Rouge - Following the re-release of the Galaxie 500 catalogue on Domino, Dean Wareham has been performing a set of all-Galaxie 500 material, with a 3-piece band featuring his wife Britta Phillips and drummer Anthony LaMarca. He returns to Le Poisson Rouge for one last New York City performance of this show.
- Squeeze, The Romantics @ Coney Island (FREE) - I'm loving Squeeze's greatest hits; super fun and poppy ; sounding like a lot of contemporary indie pop acts.

- Orchestre Poly-Rythmo, SMOD, Bibi Tanga and the Selenites, Chief Boima  @ Central Park Summerstage (3-7pm) - Orchestre Poly-Rythmo are a band from the late 60's from Benin, which plays Afrobeat, Funk, Soukous and other styles, often based on Vodun ryhtmns. They have over 500 songs in their repertoire. Should be a rare chance to see this afrobeat great. For fans of Orchestra Baobab.

- The Jezabels, Imagine Dragons, Benjamin Francis Leftwich @ Bowery Ballroom (SOLD OUT) - Three great up and coming bands to see here ; Jezabels (australia) are newly signed to mom + pop and are great live ; Imagine Dragons are newly signed to Interscope and have released a commercial success in their Continued Silence EP ; and don't sleep on UK singer songwriter BF Leftwich. He plays again the following night at Knitt Factory in BK.
- Tennis @ Brooklyn Bowl - Tennis is giving you another chance in case you missed them a few weeks ago ; it bears repeating that their sophomore record is solid.
- Howler, 1,2,3, The Denzels @ Knitting Factory (Brooklyn) - Howler sounds like they'd kill it live, and the Denzels new batch of jamz played at their gig with cloud nothings a few weeks ago sounds as badass as Denzel Washington in Glory.
