BadAss Icare Concept Motorcycle

Enzyme-Design's "Icare Concept" motorcycle is the sickest bike I've ever seen... I want one now. The thing is powered by a 6-cylinder Honda Engine! (that's like, bigger than the engine in the Civic).

This bike totally looks like it was inspired by the one in the cult classic Japanese animated movie, "Akira":

I think this the Icare might take away the title of "Only Motorcycle I'd ever want" from the Ducati Monster. I love this angle of the bike- it looks like the bastard child of a Stealth Fighter and a :

BTW, there is ONE bike (if you could call it one) I'd take over the Icare any day of the week:

"MUTO" - Amazing Wall Painted Animation by Street Artist BLU

(a piece called "Livorno 4" being completed)

First off, thanks to my roomie Hache for the heads up on this. "BLU" is a street artist out of Buenos Aires, Argentina. His work tends to hit a sort of politically striking tone and can be seen at his awesome online sketchbook. While there seems to be an abundance of street artists in the present day, what sets BLU apart are his experimental projects. Take for instance, this amazing animated street art video entitled "MUTO" that's been making its rounds on the interwebs. Basically, each frame of animation is a photo of a street painting he did. I'm assuming that for each progressive frame, the previous painting was painted over by the content of the next. I can't even imagine how long this thing to put together, but it's pretty damn amazing. Do yourself a favor and check it out:

"RockNRolla" Trailer- Is Guy Ritchie poised for a comeback?!

To put it lightly, director Guy Ritchie's last couple movies haven't exactly lived up to the bar he set for himself with earlier works such as "Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" and "Snatch." Well, looks like things might be changing for the better, as the trailer to his new movie "RockNRolla" actually looks pretty awesome.

Not exactly sure about the plot, but it definitely features Ritchie's signature blend of crime, conspiracy, action, comedy and more. The film stars Gerard Butler of "300" fame and features Jeremy Piven, Thandie Newton, and the always awesome Tom Wilkinson. Check out the trailer and be the judge of it yourself:

FoundTrack's July '08 Compilation (Track 2/14) - Saturday Knights - 45 (Radio Edit)

The Saturday Knights - 45 (Track 2/14)
Album - Mingle (Sample/Purchase)
Label - Light In The Attic
http://www.myspace.com/thesaturdayknights
Photo Taken By Hillary Harris

With one look at their myspace page you'll learn that the Saturday Knights are from Denzel, Washington and that their inspirational quote reads "let's just be friends...at first". It's refreshing to hear catchy alternative hip-hop that doesn't take itself too seriously. The minds behind this madness are two lyricists, Tilson and Barfly, as well as DJ Suspense who captures a lot of their vintage rock rhythms. Their debut full length, Mingle, which hit stores last week, also features a helping hand from the Dap Kings, the funk behind Sharon Jones and Amy Winehouse as well as the ghosts of Seattle grunge past, Kim Thayil (Soundgarden) and Nirvana producer Jack Endino, who contributed drums for our featured "45".

LOVE YOU LONG TIME

Love you Long Time got the party started right and swiftly with a guest appearance from a massive 80's boombox to accompany their keytar and vivacious vocals on the vocoder. They just moved out to LA from Utah and are already making a name for themselves so let's make sure to give them a warm welcome and continue to support them at their upcoming shows including this Saturday at the Knitting Factory. Oh and this is pretty crucial..if you happen to be in Utah this Fall, they will be opening it up for MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice.

BEDTIME FOR TOYS
Bedtime For Toys of course killed it once again and opened their set with an homage to Prince. They played all of their classic cuts including "Cold Fever" but gave us a special treat debuting their new rendition of Earth Wind & Fire's "September" with Ladies Man Kenan Moore dropping the drum thunder in honor of his father's legendary band. The word on the streets is that The Toys are working on a covers record with some very special guests so stay tuned. In the meanwhile, their digital catalog was just released yesterday on itunes so get it while it's hot here.

2AM CLUB

2am Club came with the raucous once again and overwhelming support from their faithful. We'd like to thank them for asking us to get involved and putting together such a great series of shows at the Derby. They are currently working on new material in norcal with producer Jerry Harrison of the Talking Heads, but will be playing a number of shows throughout the summer including a 4th of July Party on the Queen Mary in Long Beach. Check out their hit "Flashing Room" on our July compilation.

DJ KNEWJACK
Gracias also goes out to the grandmaster DJ KnewJack as well for dropping the hotness once again on the turntables between bands. Can't get enough of his disco madness? Then listen to his Behold the Spartacus mix and stay tuned for his second installment of his monthly DJ mixtapes on this very here blog.

Converse's 100 Year Anniverary continues- August '08 Shoe releases

Looks like Converse is on fire these days. Not only are they releasing exclusive music tracks, but Converse Japan is also continuing their 100th anniversary with these rad releases for August. I'm a big fan of white canvas hightops, so I definitely score a pair of the "P-L/T Elegance Hi" models above. The following feature a unique modern texture and color pattern on a hip classic, the Jack Purcell- this particular version being called the "Rly Metagater":
This next hybrid "V-3 Knee Hi" version of the classic Chuck Taylor All Star is so crazy, I'm not even sure if the Joker could pull em off. At least they're purple:

Here next are some lowtop All Stars called the "Chic OX." A little patent leather never hurt everyone... as for red patent leather, I'm not sure if I can say the same ;)

And so with that, we leave on a safer impression of the color red. Here are some Jack Purcell "Quilt Mids":

Something for the Ladies- Shoes by Sergio Rossi and Ld Tuttle

Okay, so I know little to nothing about shoes for the fairer sex, but I do know what I think looks cool. The shoes above by Sergio Rossi are part of their bridal collection and feature really fashion forward modern design.

This next pair is by "Ld Tuttle"- I mainly dig the hybrid high heel/lace up look that they have going on. I'd date a girl that could pull a pair of these off. Sorry for the less than prolific post here... if any of you girls out there want to do an occasional yet consistent fashion post, leave us a comment and we'll get in touch with you! :

James Bond 007 "Quantum of Solace" Teaser

The last James Bond 007 Movie, "Casino Royale" served as an awesome reboot to a franchise that was starting to get really cheesy. Led my a gritty performance by Daniel Craig (he killed like 3 dudes with his bare hands!), the series is back on track, and the next film "Quantum of Solace" (weird name, I know) is coming out this November. Hopefully this movie will give us more of the witty dialogue and really show the human side of the characters while maintaining all the style... Brioni tuxedos and Aston Martins anyone?

The film is directed by Mark Forster, which seems like a bizarre choice given his previous works- "Stranger than Fiction," "Kite Runner," and "Finding Neverland." That said, these new Daniel Craig driven Bond films really seem to get into the characters as opposed to senseless action sequences so who knows, it could totally work. Between this and "Defiance" (see the awesome trailer here) it looks like Craig has a great year ahead of him. Now, kick back and checkout the trailer to the 22nd James Bond film... I'm stoked for it:
